For a man, there is no ending
To his journey home.

He is a lone drifter,
A wandering soul,
A hungry vagabond,
A wing-clipped angel.
Don’t wait for him.
He cannot stand still.
Just watch him run –
A child at heart.

Man and woman
Live amidst terrors
Such as war and weather.
They are certain
Of these few things.
Long ago
Both decided
The only safety
Was between
Four walls.
Their lives – so
Boxed up and
Closed off to
The world. Afraid
Of it all.

Naked in this land
My soul pursues
Value in all things.
Such is the life I lead
As I struggle with
Quiet dignity.
Often wishing
I could return
To my long abandoned past
For no reason less than fear.

We are all paranoid women
When we walk the streets
Alone.
Making up fictions of the most
Macabre origins.
Shudder and retreat
Off these streets
When your fears and suspicions
Run wild
And free.
After a while,
Even your humble abode
Will not humble you with
The false comforts of
Hospitality and safety.
The world is the most
Dangerous game.
And you are a player
Without any ounce of
Expertise. So, flee.
